Teams (Preferred roster size is 11-12 players)
Teams are formed based on school and/or geographic location. There are not tryouts. Teams may be formed by a parent volunteer coach by gathering a group of school or neighborhood kids. Players may also register as individuals or may request to play with a friend. FC Boulder will do its best to honor special requests. Individual registrants will be placed on a team according to school and/or geographic location. Teams are sex specific.
Coaches
Teams are coached by volunteer parent coaches with supplemental training provided by FC Boulder staff clinicians. Many teams already have a parent coach in place. However, in some cases, a team will be formed with multiple individual registrations that have a school and/or geographic location in common. In these cases, FC Boulder will notify all the families on the team and seek a volunteer coach from the parents on the team. Soccer experience is preferred, but not required. Most important is to bring high-energy, patience and an interest in working with youth players. FC Boulder provides coaching support to volunteer coaches through coaching clinics and provides coaches with weekly practice plans.
Practices
Developmental Academy players practice 2x per week. Coaches have the choice of having their team attend one or two Developmental Academy sessions per week. Teams who choose to practice 1x per week in the Developmental Academy will practice 1x per week with their volunteer coach at a local park.
In order to best serve each family’s schedule, we will offer DA practices four days per week and each session will be run by qualified FC Boulder trainers and staff. Practice sessions will be offered at North and South Boulder locations and players can choose to attend at the 4:00PM or the 5:30PM time slot. Volunteer coaches are welcome to attend the DA practice sessions, but are not required to do so.
Supplemental Training Opportunities
Parents of U9 players also have the opportunity to enroll their child into FC Boulder Future Stars program. The Future Stars program is run by the U9-U12 Directors of Coaching, Kyle LIneberger (boys) and Ryan Henkel (girls).
Games
Games will be played on Friday nights at Pleasant View Soccer Complex in Boulder. Game times are 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00pm. Games are 8v8 with 2, 25-minute halves. A paid, licensed referee will officiate each game. FC Boulder schedules a nine-week season with one double header for a total of 10 games. Most clubs schedule only 8-9 games. We schedule 10 games in case of cancelation due to weather.
Uniforms
Each player is expected to have an official FC Boulder Adidas uniform. Our FC Boulder uniform kit includes two jersey, shorts, and socks.
