UPSL Welcomes FC Boulder

FC Boulder’s inaugural season in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) will kickoff in March 2017. The UPSL team is coached by Kyle Lineberger and Jeff Frykholm and managed by Don Harmon. Please send any UPSL-related questions to Don at don.harmon@fcboulder.com. FC Boulder will be competing in the Colorado Conference of the UPSL.

About the UPSL

The United Premier Soccer League was formed in 2011 with the goal of providing a competitive league platform for players seeking to play at higher levels. Nearly six years later, the league continues to grow its reach in the western United States.

In 2017, the UPSL will feature over 50 teams throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, and Colorado. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining UPSL minimum standards.

UPSL Promotion Relegation

The league will consist of a Premier Pro Division and a Championship Division. The California conference will begin the promotion relegation system in 2017. As the Colorado conference grows there will be 8 teams in the Premier Pro Division and up to 8 teams in the Championship Division. 2 teams will reach promotion or relegation at the end of each season.

League Format, Conference Play, and Playoffs

Arranged into five geographic conferences, the UPSL runs two separate seasons. Each season, the top clubs from every conference meet in a playoff series to determine the league champion. The seasons will run from March to June in the Spring, and August to November in the Fall. The Colorado conference will play 14 games per season followed by a four-team playoff. The semifinal and final games will be hosted by the higher-seeded team – there will not be any reseeding in a single elimination format. The conference champion will be awarded with a conference subsidized trip to the UPSL National Championship.

Teams will play a minimum of 28 and up to 36 meaningful UPSL games per year. Currently the league holds two national championships per year, awarding a Spring and a Fall champion.
